Bio of Anu Lance

Anu Lance was drawn to teaching mathematics when she moved back to India in 2009 after a career as an investment banker and a business investor in New York City. She was disappointed with the rote methods used to teach mathematics to her two elementary school kids.

She wanted to promote teaching mathematics through a solid foundation in math concepts using manipulatives and creative problem solving. The teaching approach focused on developing strong linkages between the various concepts that would carry the students through their high school mathematics.

With that vision, she founded SumLogix in 2010 and ran a highly successful math tutoring program in India for 7 years. She, along with her trained staff, taught mathematics to students in Grades 2 to 10, including SAT preparation classes.

SumLogix’s program has covered different curricula of various schools, including the American Embassy School (common core) and the British School in New Delhi and other international schools, such as International Baccalaureate. Her teaching methodology is based on the use of concrete materials and visual models, which have yielded excellent results with students of all ages and different curricula.

She moved back to the US in 2017 and is continuing her work on SumLogix. The program assesses a student’s current skill level, develops a personalized learning plan and enhances the development of the student’s math skills through the use of a challenging curriculum.

Her undergraduate and graduate degrees included several courses on mathematics. She has a MS in Chemistry from University of Cincinnati, an MBA in Finance from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, and an MA in Biotechnology from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. She is a mother of two children in Grades 6 and 7.
